Introduction

Stone Age artifacts include tools used by modern humans and by their predecessor species in the genus homo, and possibly by the earlier partly contemporaneous genera Australopithecus and paranthropus. bone tools were used during this period as well but are rarely preserved in the archaeological record. The Stone Age is further subdivided by the types of stone tools in use.
after many dramatic changes in earth's structure and environment, it becomes supportive for life. From their first appearance to around 3000 BC humans used only stone tools for different purposes. this period is , therefore, known as the stone age, which has been divided into paleolithic
(early or old stone ) age, Mesolithic(middle stone) age, and Neolithic (new stone) age.
THE PALEOLITHIC PERIOD
Paleolithic Period, also spelled Palaeolithic Period, also called Old Stone Age, ancient cultural stage, or level, of human development, characterized by the use of rudimentary chipped stone tools .

the people of this age only do food gathering and hunting . They were not konwn about fire and anyting . they were only lived open hunting . they were people only lives in cave and they were store only fruits , vegetables and meat.

in this period man used unpolished tools and undressed rough stone and live in cave and rock shelters . They mainly used hand axes, cleavers, choppers, blades, scrapers and burins. their tools made of hard rock called
"quartize"

- Lidder river Pahalgam , Kashmir.
- Sohan valley Punjab,
- Banks of River Beas, Banganga, Sirsa Haryana,
- Chittorgarh and Kota, Rajasthan,
- River Wagoon, Kadamali basins Rajasthan.
- River Sabaramati and Mahi basins (Rajasthan & Gujarat)
